Youth Advocates Zimbabwe (YAZ) is joining Gold Youth's 30-Day Match Funding Campaign this October, calling on individuals, businesses, churches, community groups, alumni and other supporters across Zimbabwe to invest in the potential and future of the country's young people.
Under the campaign theme, "By Africa. For Africa. All in for Africa's Youth," the initiative is built on a simple but powerful belief: Africa's future should be shaped and supported by Africans themselves.
For 21 years, Gold Youth has equipped grassroots organisations across six African countries to deliver a peer-led development model that helps young people build their identities, strengthen their education and access employment and entrepreneurship opportunities. To date, Gold Youth has reached more than 168,000 young people and facilitated 6,000 connections to jobs, study and entrepreneurship.
Through its participation in this campaign, Youth Advocates Zimbabwe seeks to mobilise local support for youth development and demonstrate the power of communities investing in their own young people.
A Chance for Zimbabwe to Invest in Its Own Future
Throughout October, Gold Youth and its implementing partners are mobilising support through a 30-day fundraising campaign aimed at building a stronger culture of local giving and shared responsibility for youth development.
A matching fund has been established for the campaign. For every eligible dollar raised through local co-investment, an additional matching dollar can be released, potentially doubling the value of contributions, subject to the campaign's matching conditions.
For Youth Advocates Zimbabwe, this presents an opportunity to bring together Zimbabweans who believe that young people deserve opportunities to learn, lead, participate and build a better future.
"Investing in young people is investing in the future of Zimbabwe. Young people have the ideas, energy and potential to drive meaningful change, but they need opportunities, support and communities that believe in them. Through this campaign, we are inviting Zimbabweans to take an active role in creating those opportunities. Every eligible contribution, connection and act of support can help strengthen the future we are building together," said Tatenda Songore, Executive Director, representing Youth Advocates Zimbabwe.
Local Investment, Local Ownership
The campaign is about more than fundraising. It is about building a culture of local ownership, encouraging Zimbabweans to take collective responsibility for youth development and demonstrating that meaningful change can be supported from within our own communities.
Youth Advocates Zimbabwe is inviting individuals, families, businesses, churches, community leaders, alumni, young people and organisations to participate by donating, organising fundraising activities, sharing campaign messages, connecting YAZ with potential supporters and encouraging others to get involved.
As a youth-focused organisation, Youth Advocates Zimbabwe works to advance young people's wellbeing, participation and development, with a focus on sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), adolescent wellbeing, gender-based violence prevention, child rights, prevention of early marriage and meaningful youth participation.
Through youth-centred advocacy, awareness initiatives and community engagement, YAZ seeks to amplify young people's voices, strengthen access to information and encourage young people to become active participants in shaping the decisions that affect their lives.
Funds mobilised through the campaign will support YAZ's efforts to expand peer-led youth development opportunities in Zimbabwe, helping young people access information, build leadership skills, participate in their communities and pursue opportunities for a brighter future.
Every Contribution Counts
Zimbabweans at home and abroad are encouraged to be part of this movement. Supporters can contribute financially, share the campaign with their networks, introduce potential donors and partners, or help amplify the message that investing in young people is a shared responsibility.
With eligible contributions potentially matched dollar for dollar, local support can go further and help create a greater collective impact.
